Anna Marie (Tina) Carmignani

Anna Marie (Tina) CarmignaniAnna Marie (Tina) Carmignani, 87, passed away surrounded by family, December 5, 2010.  She was born September 8, 1923 to Corinto and Teresa Carmignani.  Tina lived most of her life as a resident of Galveston.  She spent her youth around her parents’ grocery store at 8th and Broadway.  After attending Galveston public schools, Tina attained her Bachelors in Education from Texas Women’s University.  She continued her education receiving a Master’s in Music from The University of Chicago and The University of North Texas.  After stints in Washington state and Dallas, she returned to teach at GISD for the next 25 yrs.  Tina was of the Catholic faith, a lifelong member of Sacred Heart church.  Her deep faith sustained her all her life.


She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Amadeo, nephew Cori and niece Vera Catherine.  She is survived by her sister, Doris McKenzie Henkhaus, nephews Mike (Phyllis) and Robert (Debra) McKenzie, numerous nieces and nephews: Cindy, Chris, Emmanuel, Michael, Marion, Cori, Christina, Joy and Anna.  Along with great nieces she adored, Starla and Alivia.  She always appreciated special friends Carol Thomas and Annie Rathman, and many friends who she called on to share her life. 


Tina’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the considerate and helpful staffs at Edgewater, Oceanview and Cornerstone Hospital.


Visitation with family and friends will begin at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 10th at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will conclude the evening at 6:30 pm.


Funeral mass will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 11th, at Sacred Heart Church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. 


Pallbearers will be Jeff Pennington, John Pennington, Chris McKenzie, Emmanuel McKenzie, John Gabriel Watson, and Kevin Churchill.
