Evelyn Boatwright of the Houston Heritage Society, who has been participating in the Candlelight Tour for 25 years, said the event has gotten bigger each year.

“It’s growing, just like the city is growing,” she said.

Those who strolled through the historic park under the backdrop of the lighted Houston skyscrapers also enjoyed entertainment from a variety of performances.

The Heritage Society, which  operates a museum complex at Sam Houston Park, "collects, preserves, exhibits, and celebrates" the diverse history of the Houston region.

Nestled in ten acres of beautiful green parkland in the heart of Downtown Houston, the Society operates nine historic structures that date from 1823 to 1905.
