Galveston County Sheriff Freddie Poor and Deputy Claus teamed up with the Galveston County Citizen Sheriff’s Academy Alumni Association and the Bacliff Volunteer Fire Department to share Christmas gifts with children. Toys were categorized by boy, girl and age categories in the garage. The parents were accompanied by a volunteer to select toys for their children. The children told Deputy Claus what they wanted for Christmas and decorated cookies with Mrs. Claus while their parents shopped for toys. The selected toys were wrapped by GCCSAAA volunteers and placed in bags for the parents to take home and hide until Christmas day.
Sheriff Poor gave each child a stuffed animal to take home. The Beat the Heat Trans Am was available for viewing and some children took the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat.
