Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to deny a proposed increase by Texas-New Mexico Power Company of electric distribution rates.
Pearland, as a member of the Alliance of Texas-New Mexico Power Company Municipalities, reached findings that the rates should be reduced.
The city council voted unanimously to create an administrative captain position for the EMS Department.
The city council voted unanimously to deny the second amended bylaws of the Pearland Economic Development Corporation. The economic development corporation will need to bring a new set of bylaws to city council for consideration.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Alethia Lawry to serve on the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee for a three year term.
The city council voted unanimously to approve the first reading of an ordinance to change the zoning of 0.4218 acres of property at the southwest corner of McHard Road and Pearland Parkway from a Single Family Residential District to an Office Professional District.

In a separate meeting on Monday, the city council voted unanimously to authorize the Pearland Economic Development Corporation to enter into an agreement with Kemlon. The item was discussed during an executive session regarding economic development incentives. Kemlon is a manufacturer of “high quality electrical connectors, sensors, probes and related components for hostile environments” that is based in Pearland.
