AIA Houston and Architecture Center Houston in partnership with C2 Creative, Houston Downtown Management District, and Buffalo Bayou Partnership announced the 2nd Annual Gingerbread Build-Off Awards at Market Square Park on Saturday, December 11, 2010.

More than 1,000 spectators visited Market Square Park Saturday afternoon where 19 teams of local architecture firms, design professional, students, and enthusiasts competed in the 2nd Annual Gingerbread Build-Off. Eight awards were handed out acknowledging the most unique and creative gingerbread structures completed.

Winning and select gingerbread structures are on display at Architecture Center Houston (ArCH) at 315 Capitol, Suite 120, Houston Texas 77002. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 3pm. Parking is available at the Hobby Center Parking Garage.

Before announcing the awards, AIA Executive Director Rusty Bienvenue gave recognition to the Sponsors of the event.  The Icing on the Roof Sponsors were Three Brothers Bakery who supplied the gingerbread, Candylicious who supplied the candy, Kitchen Incubator who supplied the royal icing, REV eco-shuttle for transportation to and from the event and shuttling the structures to ArCH for this week’s exhibit, A & E The Graphics Complex for designing and creating the awards, Saint Arnold’s Rootbeer, Waste Management, PDR, and Green Mountain Energy. Gumdrop Sponsors were American Construction Investigations, Ltd., RED BIRD Marketplace, and vitaminwater.
