Michigan Man Charged in March Robbery
FRIENDSWOOD - Friendswood Police have charged a Michigan man with the March 18, 2010 robbery of Wells Fargo Bank, 3141 FM 528.
Jeffery Larente, 36, of Midland, Michigan was charged with Aggravated Robbery on January 3, 2011. Larente is currently in the Midland County, Michigan jail on unrelated charges.
Larente told detectives with the Midland Sheriff's Office that he had been working in Texas but had lost his job. He admitted to holding up the local bank not long after losing his job. Larente attempted to disguise himself as a woman during the robbery and displayed a gun to the tellers.
In July 2010, Friendswood Police received a CODIS match on DNA from evidence collected in the investigation that linked Larente to the crime scene. CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) is a national DNA database that compares DNA on file with evidence submitted to law enforcement labs. Over the last several months Friendswood Police worked with Michigan authorities to locate Larente and also to obtain DNA for confirmatory testing. Once confirmation was received, the Midland County Sheriffs Office conducted interviews with Larante on behalf of the Friendswood Police Department.
Larente has a criminal history including charges for Robbery, Theft, Domestic Violence and Narcotics.
