Deputies make arrest in Cooper Thefts
Galveston County Sheriff’s Deputies were conducting an investigation into the theft of copper wire in the San Leon area Tuesday night when they witnessed Jared Stephen Parker 33, of San Leon, attempting to steal copper wire from a pole. Parker fled from the deputies as they approached to arrest him. Deputies used Flir equipment from the Kemah Police Department and Thermal imagining equipment from the San Leon Fire Department without locating the suspect. Deputies requested assistance from then Texas City Police for the use of their K-9 unit The Texas City Police responded to assist in the search and located the suspect in a field in the 5600 blk of FM 517, near where he fled from Deputies.
Parker was charged with Attempted Theft, Evading Arrest and Criminal Trespass. He is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail on $6500.00 bond.
This arrest has cleared several copper wire thefts in the San Leon area over the last several weeks. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
