Thanks to TxDOT and collaboration between Congressmen Gene Green and Ted Poe, State Representative Wayne Smith and the City of Baytown, the ramp was built using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The $4.1 million project was finished two months ahead of schedule by contractor, Lone Star Construction Company. The completion of the direct connector will improve mobility in the area and complete a primary regional hurricane evacuation route.
