The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to seek donors and advertisers to support the cost of purchasing a digital scoreboard at Henry Winston Stadium.
“Several boosters approached the district about a possible financing for a digital big screen scoreboard, or better known as a jumbotron,” Superintendent Trish Hanks said in her report. “The superintendent and several staff members met with two vendors of electronic scoreboards and have investigated how other districts have acquired the scoreboards through donations. Several districts have financed the scoreboards through advertising but fronted the money for the scoreboard.”
The school board voted unanimously to authorize Hanks and Executive Director of Finance Alison Rendon to make district investments and transfers on an as-needed basis.
The school board voted 6-0, with Matthew Robinson not present during the vote, to approve the 2011-2012 Academic Planning Guide.
“The Academic Planning Guide contains local policies and procedures, outlines several state requirements, and details courses offered to students at Friendswood High School,” Hanks said.
The school board voted unanimously to approve additional bond purchases.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
