Lula Martin Fontno, 86, received her reward of eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at her residence.
Lula was born October 11, 1924, in Washington County, TX to Wesley and Bertha Boston Martin. A longtime resident of Galveston, she was a member of West Point Baptist Church, where she was very active and served with the Pastors Aid group. She was a shy, but very compassionate and caring person who loved everybody and enjoyed caring for children. Her favorite pastime was that she loved to go shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Fontno, daughter, Annette Fontno; one sister, and four brothers.
She leaves her legacy with her loving and devoted daughter, Barbara Fontno; grandson, Rochon A. Fontno (Sharwawn); great grandson, Rochon O. Fontno; sister, Ruth Bundage (Charles); five sisters in law, one other brother in law; a host of nieces , nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will begin at 9 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2011, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 AM at the West Point Baptist Church with Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon officiating.. She will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
