Precinct Two Preparing for Snow & Ice
Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Jack Morman has assigned road and bridge crews to a 24/7 staffing schedule as they prepare roads and bridges in advance of anticipated snow and ice.
Precinct Two has a Snow and Ice Plan outlining the procedures and staffing necessary to take preventive measures at known trouble spots such as bridge decks, steep grades, sharp curves and approaches to some railroad crossings.
“Safety is our first priority,” said Commissioner Morman. “Coordinating with the Toll Road Authority, TxDOT and the municipalities in Precinct Two we will work to prevent unsafe driving conditions and road closures.”
Crews will remain on duty during the snow and ice event at all three Precinct Two road camps. Beginning this afternoon, as precipitation begins to fall, sand and/or aggregate will be applied to roads and bridges known to be at risk for ice formation or snow accumulation.
Additionally, dispatchers at each location will be in constant communication with supervisors monitoring county-maintained roads to quickly react to icing conditions.
