Alvin Community College will host a Texas-style open house on March 10 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Guests will have the opportunity to learn about all the credit and continuing education programs offered at the college, meet with faculty and staff and explore student involvement options.
Academic advisors will also be available to assist with the admissions process and financial aid advisors will help guests determine if they are eligible for grants or loans to pay for education.
Guests interested in applying for financial aid at the open house for classes offered through the summer are asked to bring completed 2009 tax forms, 2009 W2s, and/or their unemployment benefits letter.
For students interested in applying for financial aid at the open house for classes offered in the fall are asked to bring completed 2010 tax forms, 2010 W2s, and/or their unemployment benefits letter.
Entertainment at the event will include the Alvin Community Jazz Band and KACC 89.7 FM broadcasting live. Guests will be able to ride a mechanical bull, learn steer roping techniques, have their photo taken in an adventure scene and more.
There will be plenty of free food and door prizes and several scholarships will be awarded to participants over the age of 17 who are present at the open house during the time of the drawing.
