The third annual "Rhythm and Rails" concert and trainfair benefiting the Houston Railroad Museum will feature three popular musical groups and an afternoon of model railroads, food and fun for the entire family. The event will occur on Saturday April 9th in the shadow of the Museum's vintage rail car collection. Participants should bring a lawn chair and a big appetite for fun.
The musical fare will range from gospel to bluegrass to country .... With returning favorites Texas Harmony and Digger Davis and Tombstone, and singer-songwriter Mike Stinson and his band added this year. The museum will be open for tours and there will be a model railroad flea market as well as toy trains for kids....the music gets underway shortly after noon. Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for kids 4 to 12 with a $1 per ticket discount available with advance purchases through the web page.
The Houston Railroad Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011, having been originally located at the old Union Station (now Minute Maid Park) and in its current location since 1978.
The Museum is located in northeast Houston about a mile north of the I 610 McCarty Exit. McCarty Road crosses Mesa Road and the Museum is at 6390 Mesa, in the Railwood Industrial Park.
