Mushroom Laced Chocolates Seized During Narcotics Search and Arrest Warrant
On February 11, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., the Friendswood Police Department served a narcotic search warrant in the 800 block of Briarmeadow Avenue. The search warrant was the result of a several month long investigation into the sale of marijuana and other narcotic activity at the residence and other locations within the City of Friendswood. Officers seized 1.215 ounces of hydroponic marijuana, 355.5 grams of chocolate candies containing Psilocybin, drug paraphernalia, scales, and currency. Psilocybin is a psychedelic drug extracted from a mushroom of the same name. The affects are hallucinogenic in nature, similar to LSD. It should also be noted that there were several small plastic baggies containing hydroponic marijuana that were ready for distribution.
Kory Allen Long, 19 years old, of Friendswood, was charged with a first degree felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver Penalty Group 2. Long was booked into the Friendswood City Jail on Friday afternoon and later transferred to the Galveston County Jail. His bond was set at $20,000.
Police officials noted that this investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected in connection with this case.
