The Friendswood Police Department is providing an update into the ongoing investigation of two burglars who targeted a Friendswood neighborhood and were identified through surveillance video using a stolen credit card to make purchases at a local department store. On Monday, February 14, Thomas Brantley Collins, 21, of Alvin, was arrested for two burglary of a motor vehicle warrants and found in possession of a stolen iPhone that he had used to store child pornography. Today, Collins' accomplice in the burglaries, Douglas Edward Ashley, 22, of Alvin, was arrested by Friendswood Police at a residence in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street in Alvin. Also arrested at the Alvin residence was Ashley's girlfriend, Samantha Rae Doss, 21, of Porter. Doss had an outstanding warrant for theft in Humble and she was also found in possession of a controlled substance. She was taken into custody and booked by the Alvin Police Department.
The owner of the residence in Alvin allowed officers into the home where they found electronics equipment to include several GPS units and stereo equipment. Two GPS units were reported stolen in motor vehicle burglaries in League City. Additional charges are expected in connection with the League City incidents. Ashley's prior history includes vehicle theft, property theft, and criminal mischief.
