Great Texas Warrant Roundup Begins March 5

Representatives of law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 100 jurisdictions across Texas announced today they will jointly host the 4th annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, March 5.

The roundup will target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants.  Hundreds of thousands of notices were recently mailed statewide by participating entities.  It is believed to be the largest joint operation of its kind with arrests expected to continue for several days.

Affected persons are urged to contact the appropriate jurisdiction or jurisdictions during the next two weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily.  Locally contact the City of Galveston Municipal Court, 409-765-3740, to learn the number of outstanding warrants and how to resolve warrants prior to arrest.   Act now to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or work in front of family, friends or co-workers.

Last week the Galveston Police Department combined with the Texas City Police Department executed a successful round-up on the mainland. The Galveston Police Department’s increased use of technology greatly enhanced their ability to apprehend violators.
