The Houston Fire Department Arson Division Arrests and Charges a Woman for a Weekend Arson Case that led to the Death of a Southeast Side Boy
49 year-old Rosalidia Romero Chirinos, d.o.b. 10.15.70, has been charged with Arson Causing Bodily Injury, a first degree felony that carries a punishment ranging from 5 to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 dollar fine. The case has been remanded to the 339th state district court, in Harris County. HFD Arson investigators say the motive for the fire stemmed from a family argument.
Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011, the fire was started in a downstairs apartment unit of the Pebble Walk Apartments located in the 8500 block of Broadway Blvd., in Southeast Houston. The fire resulted in the death of an 11-year old boy. His father suffered injuries in an attempt to evacuate the victim and his nine-year-old brother from a second story apartment unit at that complex.
Two fire fighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.
About a half-dozen units were heavily damaged. Several others incurred smoke damage.
