Galveston Police Department Modifies Lobby Hours
Call Box Installed to Connect Public with Police Dispatch After 5PM

Galveston, Texas – The Galveston Police Department will close the lobby of the Joe Max Taylor Justice Center from 5:00PM to 8:00AM daily effective immediately.  An emergency call box will be installed outside the building’s front doors to connect the public with police dispatch after business hours, on weekends, and holidays.  Modifying the lobby hours will save the department almost $150,000 annually.

The emergency call box will be located in the center of the Justice Center’s front doors.  Signage clearly identifies the box.  The call box and adjacent area are monitored by a video camera system.  Police dispatch will be able to speak to the caller and send officers to the location, if necessary.

Citizens can contact the Galveston Police Department by calling 9-1-1 for emergencies and 409-765-3702 for non-emergencies.
