EMERGING CERAMIC ARTISTS IN TEXAS
The College of the Mainland Art Gallery presents Emerging Ceramic Artists in Texas, Feb. 28 through March 31. COM SCHEDULES NIGHT OF JAZZ
College of the Mainland’s award-winning Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, directed by Sparky Koerner, will present a concert on Tuesday, March 1 at 8 pm in the Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. Some of the selections will include: Duke Ellington’s C-Jam Blues, James Williams’ Alter Ego, and Bobby Watson’s Karita and Love Remains performed by the jazz combo. The Jazz Ensemble will feature Russian Saxophonist Vladimir Bourouk on a Quincy Jones ballad Grace, Trumpeter Kim Chavez will be featured on the Richard Rodgers tune My Romance, and the great jazz standard Shiny Stockings from the Count Basie library. “It should be a night of great American Jazz Music,” said Koerner. Amber TeBeest is a 1998 graduate of LaMarque High school and attended College of the Mainland from 1999-2001. While at COM, TeBeest studied Music Education, and participated in the jazz combo and the concert band. She was also the first recipient of the Larry Stanley Music Scholarship.
