Celebrate National Pancake Day at Galveston’s IHOP

Get a free short stack from 7a.m.-10 p.m. and help the Children’s Miracle Network

GALVESTON, TEXAS — Join Galveston’s IHOP at The San Luis Resort local Shriners on Tues., March 1, from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m., to celebrate National Pancake Day and to raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Receive one complimentary short stack of buttermilk pancakes. In return for the free flapjacks, consider leaving a little something behind for those in need.

“We are pulling out the stops to top our store’s gift of $2,939.76 in 2010,” said Matt LaRochelle, general manager. “What better way to give back than with a short stack?”

This year, the honorable Mayor Joe Jaworski will kick-off the event at the Galveston IHOP’s Seawall location at 7 a.m. by reading the official proclamation declaring March 1st National Pancake Day and Shriners Hospital for Children Day.

“I salute IHOP for joining with Shriners Hospitals for Children to transform a stack of pancakes into treatment for children with severe burns. Exposing these children to the wonders of first class medical treatment helps enrich our entire community,” said Jaworski.

Thanks to the eatery’s guests' generosity, IHOP raised more than $2.1 million last year. This year’s goal is to raise $2.3 million nationally. IHOP began its National Pancake Day in 2006, and since then, has raised $5.35 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities and given away more than 10.1 million buttermilk pancakes.
