Michael John TorvitBorn January 19, 1967 6:26 p.m., Died February 24, 2011 4:45 a.m.

He is survived by his life partner Richard A. Crosby, His parents (Bill) William E. Torbit, Jr. and (Jean) Dorothy J. Key, his Brother and Sisters, David Torbit and sister-in-law Judy, Michelle Sinnock, and Melody Claus and brother-in-law Matt, and his Children,  Caleb Torbit and Allyson Jordan.  He is further survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as three grandchildren that he adored, Ryleigh, Hunter, and Cailyn.

The better part of Mike’s life was dedicated to his family and friends, and life partner of 17 years. His life’s work involved the travel industry, accounting, and finally property management in Galveston, TX.

His life was ended by the terrible complications of pneumonia, having suffered a life threatening stroke.

His devotion to the comfort of others, and selfless acts of kindness, and compassion touched the lives of friends and family. He never knew a stranger, as all were welcomed into his life with open arms and an open heart. He will be deeply missed, but not forgotten for the wonderful man that he was.

Pallbearers will be Ross “Woody” Wells, Robert Zahn, Tim Dudley, Rodney Seiler, Lin Hlanak, Markhan Ross, Robert Howerton and Brack Collier.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, February 28, 2011 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with the Reverend Ray Pinard officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the funeral home.
