News Release
Friday, February 25, 2011

Charges have been filed against a third suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 9718 Galaxy about 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2010.

The suspect, Lence Adolphus Burnley (b/m, DOB: 11-28-81), is charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court.  Two other suspects, Gerald Lernard Porter (b/m, DOB: 3-7-84) and Herbert Goldsmith (b/m, DOB: 11-28-88) are also charged with capital murder in the same court.  All three are accused in the death of Christopher Jones, 29, of the above address, who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A photo of suspect Burnley is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Blain, J. Burton and Officer J. Robles reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found Mr. Jones deceased inside a bedroom.  A second male victim, 27, was found in the kitchen, also suffering a gunshot wound, and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation identified Porter and Goldsmith as suspects in this case.  Both were arrested in September.  Burnley was later identified as a third suspect involved in this case.  He was arrested on Feb. 18 without incident.
