The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Friday, voted 5-0-1, with Pat Turner abstaining, to extend the contract of Superintendent Michael Bergman for one year.
Bergman’s contract will now expire on June 30, 2012.
The school board voted 4-0-2, with Turner and Estelle Holmes abstaining, to approve Bergman’s voluntary retirement agreement.
Both items were discussed in an executive session. Trustee Shirley Price left the meeting at the close of the executive session, and therefore did not vote on the items.
During a workshop session to discuss budget issues, the school board took no official action, but agreed to call a meeting for March 8 to address a possible reduction in force due to budget issues, and to discuss the district’s staffing patterns.
No other action items were on the agenda. Agenda
