The Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to implement a tuition-based pre-kindergarten program.
"Tuition Based Pre Kindergarten would provide early education and intervention to growing number of young children, would also meet growing community needs for quality early childhood education, and maximize learning space in our early childhood classrooms,” Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith said.
The school board voted 5-2, with Win Weber and Ann Hammond opposed, to approve to file a statement of impact application with the Texas Education Agency regarding the Second Chance Technology Edge Academies.
Second Chance Technology Edge Academies is intending to submit an application to the State Board of Education to operate an open-enrollment charter school within the district’s boundaries.
“The proposed open-enrollment charter school is expected to have a major impact on the district,” Smith said.
The school board voted unanimously to file a statement of impact regarding KAT Small Planet Montessori Preschool, Inc., which is applying to the state for the operation of an open-enrollment charter school. The charter school would be named “Roots and Wings Montessori Preparatory Academy”.
The school board voted unanimously to increase the amount of a contract for the purchase of visual and performing arts equipment, supplies and services by $600,000.
The increase will bring the contract total to $1.3 million, and is aimed at providing “an efficient method” for purchases needed in the district’s music, theater and arts programs.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
