Prescription Burn At Galveston Island State Park Today
The Texas Forest Service, in cooperation with the City of Galveston’s Fire Marshal’s Office, will conduct a prescribed burn today at Galveston Island State Park beginning between 10:00AM and 11:00AM. The controlled burn will be conducted for wildlife management purposes in two areas of the park: along the east border at 13 Mile Road and FM 3005; and along the west border adjacent to Jamaica Beach. Today's ideal weather conditions will yield the best results with the least impact the community. Smoke from the fire should not affect homes on the Island. Fire safety personnel will be on-site throughout the duration of the burn to monitor conditions.
