DEPUTIES TO GRADE RODEO-GOERS ON SAFETY
HOUSTON, Texas – Deputies with the HCSO’s Crime Prevention Unit will be on duty at Reliant Park parking lots making sure that the thousands of visitors to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ do not invite crooks to boot scoot with their loot.
Deputies will leave “safety report cards” on vehicles after checking to make sure they are locked and that items that can entice burglars, such as purses, money and electronics, are not left in plain view.
Drivers will either get a pass or fail card on their windshield. Report cards are in English and Spanish.
Deputies will conduct the safety checks throughout the rodeo season – March 1-20, 2011.
Remember, LOCK your car, TAKE your keys, and HIDE your valuables. Always be aware of your surroundings, and walk with a friend or a group when leaving or going to your car.
News media interviews and photo opportunities will be available on Thursday, March 3. Please confirm your attendance to Christina Garza, Media Relations Manager, at Christina.Garza@sheriff.hctx.net.
