There was a whole lot of tail wagging going on during the Krewe of Barkux and Meoux Parade on the Seawall Blvd. Sunday afternoon. Mostly dogs (and a few cats and other pets like chickens, minks etc...), were dresses up in their best and most colorful Mardi Gras costumes and wearing lots of purple and green beads.

Caroline Dorsett-Pate, the Executive Director of the Galveston Island Humane Society said that approximately 340 dog and cats participated in the parade.
Dorsett said that it was one of the largest turnouts and she was thankful for the good weather.
Large crowds made up of mostly families with small children, lined the parade route.
