People’s Choice Award
With tropical force winds during the parade, the Lighthouse Krewe and crowd showed mother nature that this days cool breeze would not be enough to dampen the spirit of those on the Bolivar Peninsula. The Lighthouse Krewe, with a rich 20 year parade tradition celebrated the event with it's "Thru The Years" Theme.
The Lighthouse Krewe welcomed back the F.O.E. 3719 Aerie with it's patriotic float when it made it's huge splash during the parade on Saturday winning first place in the coveted People's Choice Award category and third place in the small float category. The Eagles known for it's motto "people helping people" accepted a little help from the NHFL to show it's patriotism with a colorful, enthusiastic float showering the crowd with beads, beads and more beads. The F.O.E. 3719 Aerie, celebrating it's 35th year on the Peninsula this year, was there 20 years ago when Anne Willis was Queen riding with Sheriff AC Hilton during the first Lighthouse Krewe Parade.
Congratulations to the entire Lighthouse Krewe, all of the participants, and of course the crowd who braved some of the harshest conditions in the parade's 20 year history.
Happy Mardi Gras!!
