Elizabeth Washington, 78, received her eternal reward of rest on March 16, 2011, at her residence.
Elizabeth was born on August 26, 1932, to the late Amos and Lillie Knight. She was formerly employed at UTMB and retired from Shriners Burn Hospital after 29 years of service. She was a member of the West Point Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher and as past president on the local, district and state level. She also was member of the Heroines of Jericho.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Betty Jo Thomas, grandson, Ronald Williams, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, James Washington, Sr.; daughter, Darlene Hill; son, Walter Thomas Jr. (Jocelyn); seven grandchildren; 24 four great-grandchildren; brother, Amos Knight; sister, Emma Holland; special friends, Rebecca Williams, Annie Evans, Beulah Mims, and Verna Douglas; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9AM on Friday, March 25th followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 a.m. at West Point Baptist Church with Pastor Kerry Tillmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
