The Houston-Galveston Area Council Transportation Policy Council today voted to allocate an additional $80 million in the 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Plan to road and freight rail projects rather than to alternative modes of transportation such as hike and bike trails and other pedestrian-friendly projects.
The TPC also voted to preserve $51.6 million for alternative modes such as bicycle, pedestrian and transit projects. The decision came after a spirited workshop on the TIP. Listen: MP3 RealPlayer The TPC action is final and does not need to be reviewed by the full H-GAC Board of Directors.
