Victor Albert Diaz passed away peacefully in his home on March 28, 2011 at the age of 89. His final days were spent surrounded by those he dedicated his life to, those he loved most, his family. “Vic” Diaz was a skilled craftsman and a prize fighter. He served the city of Galveston for 19 years and proudly served his country as a corporal during World War II. Vic had a smile that would light up a room and he touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. He maintained his trademark sense of humor until the very end.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents Ezequiel and Angelina Diaz, brothers Luis Diaz, Jesse Diaz, and sister Mary Diaz Garza.
Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife of 64 years, Romana Quintero-Diaz; son Victor Diaz, Jr.; daughters Virginia Diaz and Ramona Diaz-Perales; brother Daniel Diaz Sr.; sister Belia Diaz Castano; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, along with countless other relatives and friends whom were blessed to know him.
Vic’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, April 1st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, April 2nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Deacon Henry Herrera officiating. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.
