Residents of southern Louisiana, who are preparing for Grand Réveil Acadien 2011, the great Acadian Awakening, in October, are hosting an event in Southeast Texas to attract participants.
Marty Guidry of Les Guédry d'Asteur (the Guidrys of today) will present his research on the family’s migration into Texas.
“We'll discuss Les Guédry d'Asteur and its history, the upcoming Grand Réveil Acadien 2011 and the Guédry-Labine & Petitpas Reunion on 8 October 2011,” Guidry said. “Additionally, I will present a PowerPoint discussion of the Guedry/Guidry Family of Southeast Texas in which we'll discuss the four principal migrations of the Guédry/Guidry family into Southeast Texas from the 1830's through World War II.”
The meeting will be held in the Wells Fargo Business Banking Office Conference Room at 6250 Delaware Street in Beaumont, Texas, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 30.
The location is right off I-10 in Beaumont near the junction of I-10 with Highways 12, 69, 287 and 96 (Exit 853A off I-10).
For all the folks coming from north and south of Beaumont, just get onto I-10 east or west of Exit 853A and then follow the appropriate directions.
Discussion will be on the Les Guédry d'Asteur and its history, the upcoming Grand Réveil Acadien 2011 and the Guédry-Labine & Petitpas Reunion on 8 October 2011.
Additionally, there will be a PowerPoint presentation and discussion of the "Guedry/Guidry Family of Southeast Texas", which will include information about the four principal migrations of the Guédry/Guidry family into Southeast Texas from the 1830's through WWII.
“Everyone with an interest in the Guédry/Guidry family is welcome and encouraged to attend,” Guidry said.
