Carlos Martinez QuirogaCarlos Martinez Quiroga age 86 of Galveston passed from this life Monday, April 4, 2011,  at Hearthstone Assisted Living in Texas City. Funeral services are 10:00 am Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday. 

Born October 22, 1924 in Galveston, Texas to Filomeno Quiroga and Mercedes Martinez Quiroga, Carlos retired from Southern Union Gas Company after 42 years of service. He spent his retirement helping his family by always being there for them in times of need.  

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Antonia Montes Cortez, Soledad Quiroga Garza, Juanita Martinez Quiroga and brothers, Silverio Quiroga, Jose Quiroga, Jesse Quiroga, Juan Quiroga and Rodolfo Quiroga, survivors include his brother, Roberto Quiroga and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care givers at Hearthstone Assisted Living and A-Med Community Hospice in Texas City for the compassionate care and love provided during Mr. Quiroga’s illness.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice.

Friends may sign the register book and send the family condolences at Please include the Quiroga name.
