Midtown Houston hosted two quality of life events on Saturday.
The fifth annual Midtown Art in the Park, sponsored by the Midtown Management District, was held at Elizabeth Baldwin Park at Elgin and Chenevert. Live music was featured along with food from a variety of vendors, as well as art in a wide range of mediums including photography, painting, pottery, sculpture, jewelry and glass.
Nearby, on Holman and La Branch, the Community Artists’ Collective, Planners Revolution and ECOTONE staged a ‘complete street’ for the day. The event was billed as Better Block Houston Presents…. Hot Block on Holman!
Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County Board Member Christof Spieler explained that the idea was to help communities visualize what a sustainable, perfect block would look like, complete with infrastructure in place that would make it easy for pedestrians, motorists, bicyclists and transit riders to travel the area safely.
