University of Oaxaca and COM Friendship Agreement Signing

On Friday, April 15 at 3 p.m. Rafael Torres Valdez, president of Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca and COM President Dr. Michael Elam will be at the COM Art Gallery to sign a friendship agreement between the two schools. The Honorable Dr. Luis Malpica y de Lamadrid, Consulate General of Mexico in Houston, and the honorable Takahiko Watabe Consulate General of Mexico in Houston, will be in attendance as well as many mayors and city commissioners from the area.

College of the Mainland in Texas City is very excited about the upcoming visit of internationally-renowned Japanese master artist Maestro Shinzaburo Takeda, who has lived and worked in Oaxaca, Mexico for 50 years. Takeda will be working in collaboration with COM students to paint a mural in the Fine Arts Building.
