HCSO DEPUTIES ARREST MAN AFTER HE ATTACKED WOMAN WITH MACHETE
HOUSTON – Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested a man after he viciously attacked the mother of his child with a machete.
Ronald Washington, 41, has been charged with aggravated assault of a family member with a deadly weapon for the attack that happened on April 12, 2011 in northeast Harris County.
The victim, whose name will not be released, drove to the 7100 block of Mt. Houston Rd. to meet Washington after he claimed he wanted to see their 6-month-old child. The suspect approached the victim’s vehicle and began arguing with her. The woman tried to leave but Washington reached into her car, took the keys and walked away. The woman began yelling at Washington trying to get her keys back. That’s when Washington returned with a machete in his hand and began attacking the woman with the baby sitting in her lap. In an attempt to protect her child from the machete-yielding suspect, the victim put the baby on the passenger’s side floorboard. At some point the victim was able to escape out of the vehicle from the passenger door. As she was running, the suspect caught up with her, continued attacking her with the machete and doused her with gasoline. Despite her injuries, the victim was able to get away from the suspect and asked for help from passing motorists. The suspect in the meantime got in the victim’s vehicle, with the baby still inside, and attempted to run her over. With the help of a passing motorist, the victim fled to a nearby gas station where she called 9-1-1. Washington returned to his vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the baby behind in the car.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where she is recovering from her injuries. Her 6-month-old child was not injured.
Ronald Washington was arrested the next day after he attempted to file a report at an HCSO storefront, claiming he had been attacked by the mother of his child. He is currently at the Harris County jail.
