Helen Lavada Kidder
Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home
Helen Lavada Kidder, 84, passed on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Cypress Glen East Nursing Home in Port Arthur, Texas.
Helen was born on July 8, 1926 in Flora, Texas to the late Nellie Marianne Vanzandt Chandler and Roy Lee Chandler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Kidder; husband, R.P. Singleton; and her sister, Juanita Channel.
Helen lived most of her life in Port Arthur. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Durso's Laundry. She later studied cosmetology and became a beautician for several years.
She was honored to be given an award by the Rotary Club a few years ago. She enjoyed reading, line dancing, visiting and having lunch at the Port Neches Senior Citizen place, participating in activities at church and watching her Astros.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Soenning and husband John of Port Neches; daughter, Stephanie Lackey and husband Stephen of Houston; granddaughter, Sandy Soenning Durbin and husband Paul of Houston; grandson, John Soenning, Jr. and wife Brandie of League City; grandson, Stephen Kidder of Houston; brother, Dale Chandler and wife Janet of Richardson; and future great granddaughter, Breanna Nicole Soenning.
She was so very proud of her three grandchildren and loved visiting and spending time with them. She continuously bragged about the three of them. She was excited about being a great grandmother in July.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 1 PM till service time at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be at 2 PM Sunday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel. Cremation is entrusted to Clayton Thompson. Entombment of her ashes will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
