SHERIFF GARCIA ANNOUNCED CHANGES IN JAIL VISITATION SCHEDULE
HOUSTON – Continuing his efforts and commitment to keep Harris County safe and save taxpayers money, Sheriff Adrian Garcia is changing the Harris County Jail inmate visitation schedule.
Beginning Monday, April 25, 2011, visits to inmates by the public will take place four days a week, with extended hours on some days, rather than seven days a week. State law requires visits two days per week. Schedule
The change allows Sheriff Garcia to save $1.3 million a year by not having to staff extra positions in the lobby and visitor control center on non-visitation days.
The Harris County Jail averages about 1,700 visitors each day.
