Galveston County Sheriff’s detectives served search warrants at two Bacliff game rooms where officials believe illegal gambling has been taking place.
At 11:00 this morning, deputies simultaneously served warrants at “Lucky U”, in the 800 block of Grand Avenue, and “Blazing 7’s” in the 1000 block of Avenue E. About two dozen customers were in the businesses at the time of the bust, all of whom were interviewed and released.
Investigators spent several hours searching each of the businesses, ultimately seizing over $106,000 in cash, and some 180 “8-liner” slot machines, along with items used to support illicit gambling operations.
Sheriff’s detectives are continuing their probes into activities at these two establishments. Consideration of charges will take place on completion of their investigations.
