Public Safety News
Harris County Sheriff's Office
News Release
Thursday, April 21, 2011

HOUSTON – Today marks the 20th anniversary of the unsolved murder of a young man in north Harris County.  Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Cold Case Unit hope the public can provide clues to help solve it.

The victim is Kevin Barak. He was 18 years old.

On Sunday, April 21, 1991, at approximately 8 p.m., Barak was found locked in the trunk of his car at 15401 Greendale near Dow Park in north Harris County. He had been shot and killed.

Anyone with information about the killer(s) in this case is asked to please contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (713-222-8477) or the HCSO’s Cold Case Unit at 713-967-5911.

No photo of the victim is available.

This is one of several cold cases that the HCSO is featuring every week in hopes of gathering new information that may help solve them. For many of these cases, there is very little information, so investigators are relying solely on the public’s tips.
