Galveston’s Citizens Police Academy Starts this Week – Join Now!
Free 12 Week Program Offers Insight into Police Training, Investigation, & Criminal Law

Galveston, Texas – It’s not too late to join the Galveston Police Department’s 26th Annual Citizens Police Academy.  If you are at least 18 years of age, live or work in the City of Galveston, and would like to better understand how the police department serves the community, this is your chance to find out!  This is free program begins this Thursday!

WHAT:           Galveston Police Department Citizens Police Academy 

WHEN:           First class meets Thursday, May 12
Classes continue every Thursday for the next 11 weeks
6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.   

WHERE:        Galveston County Criminal Justice Center
601 54th Street, Galveston, TX

The purpose of the Citizens Police Academy is to increase understanding between the Island’s citizens and the police department through education.  During the program students will be provided with information, training, and insight into the workings of the Galveston Police Department.  Courses will cover topics including police recruitment, internal affairs, criminal investigations, and narcotics and vice.

Due to the sensitive subject matter of this training, a criminal history check is required.
