WHAT: METRO Vision Long Range Plan Briefing/Discussion
WHEN: May 12, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Upper Kirby Building, 3015 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77098
The New METRO is conducting workshops which include opportunities for the public to suggest new transit routes through use of a new, interactive map. Information from the workshops will help frame long-range plans and determine a comprehensive METRO Vision for regional transit. The goal for the gatherings is a better understanding of area public transit needs, and substantive input from our diverse communities.
WHO: METRO Senior VP, Service Design & Development, Kimberly Slaughter will direct this public workshop examining issues and requesting feedback on a blueprint for transit projects extending into the next quarter century. Among the options to be considered are improved bus service, bus rapid transit, streetcars, light rail, and commuter rail.
Two dozen public workshops, spanning May and June, will provide the public opportunities to impact METRO’s Vision for the future. The workshops, like this one in the Upper Kirby area, are scheduled in communities throughout the METRO service area (see attached lists for workshop locations and dates). The workshops will feature speakers including METRO President & CEO George Greanias, METRO Board members and Ms. Slaughter.
