BEAUMONT, Texas – Three members of the Lamar University track program will compete at the preliminary rounds of the NCAA Track and Field Championships next week.
The trio of Cardinals will run in the West Preliminary that is slated for May 26-28 at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Lamar’s Ashley Idunoba, who won the Southland Conference title in the women’s 200 meters, is seeded 31st for the 200 meters. On the men’s side, Tom Wade is seeded eighth for the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while twin brother Joe Wade is seeded 26th for the same event.
Last season, Lamar’s Joonas Harjamaki was an All-American in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase after placing seventh in 8 minutes, 44.58 seconds.
The top performers at this year’s preliminary sites advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships set for June 8-11 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
