CLEAR BROOK CELEBRATES ATRIUM WITH ‘ROOM TO GROW’
Friendswood – Clear Brook High School’s atrium has a whole new look thanks to the collaboration of students, staff and the community. The “Room to Grow” atrium was funded through a grant from Lowe’s and the Clear Creek Education Foundation. It was designed and built by and for Clear Brook students.
On Tuesday, May 24, 2011, the campus celebrated the grand opening of the new space. Faculty members, committee members, and community volunteers all contributed to make this atrium for our special needs students become a reality. There are student-built above ground planter boxes for vegetables, herbs, indigenous Texas flowers and shrubs to attract butterflies and hummingbirds; and pavers were meticulously laid to allow access for wheel-chair bound students.
In addition to the materials and watering system, the grant also funded the purchase of special gardening tools for use by our special needs students so they will be able to care for the plants.
