Candidates can apply online for three open positions
The Houston Independent School District is accepting applications from those interested in serving on the district’s Bond Oversight Committee. The nine-member committee has three vacant seats.
The Bond Oversight Committee was created by the HISD Board of Education to ensure the effective and efficient use of bond proceeds. The committee’s charge is to monitor HISD bond funded construction projects and help keep the community informed about new construction and renovation projects in the district.
The committee is composed of building and construction professionals and community members who monitor HISD’s construction projects to ensure the bond program is being implemented as promised to Houston voters. Committee members are not compensated for their service to HISD, nor are they permitted to work for the district or have any active or pending contracts with the district. Committee members counsel and provide input for the administration, but they do not have management or policy setting responsibilities.
Those encouraged to apply for the HISD Bond Oversight Committee include active members of any business organization that represents the Houston business community; parents of children enrolled in the district who are also active in a parent-teacher organization; members of the community at-large; and those with building design or construction experience.
Those interested in applying for the open committee positions can do so by clicking here. After reviewing all the applications, an internal group will then make recommendations to HISD Superintendent Terry Grier, who will make the official appointments to the committee.
