HOUSTON — The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing swimmer off Galveston, Friday.

The swimmer, a 21-year old man, went missing Thursday, after swimming near 45th Street and Seawall. Coast Guard crews searched approximately 6 nautical miles with air and surface assets. The Galveston Island Beach Patrol assisted in the search as well.

The Coast Guard would like to encourage swimmers and beachgoers to be safe while on or near the water, and to heed all warnings and advisories, posted and verbal, pertaining to beach conditions.
