Downtown Galveston Invites All to Join the 4th of July Downtown Parade & Celebration
Galveston Island, Texas – The Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership and Galveston County Marine Corps League invite everyone to participate in the 4th of July Downtown Parade & Celebration. Galveston Island will celebrate the 4th of July in style with events across the Island, fireworks each night of the holiday weekend, and a traditional hometown Parade and Celebration throughout the streets of the historic downtown. The Parade will be held Monday, July 4, 2011 beginning at 10 a.m.
Join the Parade! Decorate your tank, amphibious landing craft, HUMVEE or any other favorite mode of military transportation, and join us in the parade. Civilian craft – convertibles, golf carts, bicycles, etc. welcome too! Participation is FREE but registration is required.
The parade line-up begins at 9 a.m. on Santa Fe Place downtown. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. and winds its way through historic downtown Galveston, followed by a patriotic celebration at the Galveston Island Railroad Museum. The Celebration will include live music and refreshments.
The parade and celebration would not be possible without the dedicated support of the Galveston County Marine Corps League, Detachment #668, Galveston Lion’s Club, the Sons of the American Revolution - Bernardo de Galvez Chapter, Galveston College, the Galveston Island Railroad Museum, and the Galveston Parks Board.
All organizations, businesses, civic, church and musical groups, individuals and families are invited to participate in the parade. Participation in the parade is free and fun for everyone. Parade registration and information is available on The Partnership’s website: www.downtowngalveston.org.
