Symphony to Perform Free, Annual July 4th Concert
The Symphony of Southeast Texas will join the City of Beaumont for its Annual July 4 Celebration Concert on Monday, July 4, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the Julie Rogers Theatre. The concert is free and open to the public. The city’s fireworks display will follow immediately after. The concert, which is patriotic in nature, will include a Salute to the Armed Forces, honoring servicemen and women of the past and present. Dr. Jimmy Simmons, President of Lamar University, will conduct the concert.
This concert begins a busy season for the Symphony of Southeast Texas; its third with Music Director, Chelsea Tipton, II. The orchestra will perform Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem, and Mahler’s 1st Symphony this season. The annual pops concert, in January 2012, will feature world-renowned trumpeter, Byron Stripling, in a tribute to Louis Armstrong and New Orleans.
