WHAT: METRO Vision Long Range Plan Workshop
WHEN: Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Cy-Fair Library, 9191 Barker-Cypress Road, Cypress and HCC Northline, 8001 Fulton, Houston
The New METRO is conducting workshops that encourage public input on transit through many methods, including the use of a new and interactive map. Information from the workshops will help with plans for a long-range, comprehensive METRO Vision for regional transit. The goal, ultimately, is a better understanding of area public transit needs through the collected input from communities served by METRO.
WHO: METRO President & CEO George Greanias, and Senior VP for Service Design & Development Kimberly Slaughter, will be key presenters along with METRO Board Members. The workshops will review issues and request feedback for a blueprint for transit projects extending into the next quarter century. Among the options being considered are improved bus service, bus rapid transit, streetcars, light rail, and commuter rail.
Two dozen public workshops, spanning May and June, provide the public opportunities to impact METRO’s Vision for the future. The workshops are scheduled in communities throughout the METRO service area (see attached lists for workshop locations and dates) and directed by METRO board members and senior management. All workshops take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
