The Texas City Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Tuesday, voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Dr. Bob Brundrett as superintendent of schools.
Brundrett took the helm as superintendent in September of 2008. His resignation will be effective June 30.

The school board voted unanimously to name Hal Biery as the president of the board and Manuel Guajardo, Jr. as vice president. Biery previously served as vice president, and takes over from former board member JoAnn Hackbarth.
During the meeting, Pamela Apffel and Tom Prouty were sworn in as new members of the board. Apffel defeated incumbent Hackbarth for the District 5 seat, while Prouty defeated Genie Jennings for the District 3 seat, which was held by Ginger Bond.
The board met in executive session regarding various items, including consultation with the board’s attorney, discussion of matters involving real property, personnel matters, and other issues.
The board voted to name Susan Wilson as the director of the district's Head Start Program.
The board voted to approve the hiring of four coaches for the 2011-2012 school year. Chris Mason was named the new head boys basketball coach, Matt Cooper was named head coach of the varsity baseball team, Lance Dale was named defensive coordinator for the football team, and Chad Butler was named as offensive coordinator for the football team.
