Texas City ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, June 08, 2011

The Texas City Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Tuesday, voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Dr. Bob Brundrett as superintendent of schools.

Brundrett took the helm as superintendent in September of 2008.  His resignation will be effective June 30.

“A school district is measured by the commitment of the Board, staff and community to its children and their achievement,” Brundrett said. “This District is indeed so committed. I appreciate the staff and community for their support of TCISD’s programs and services during my term as Superintendent."

During the meeting, Pamela Apffel and Tom Prouty were sworn in as new members of the board.  Apffel defeated incumbent Hackbarth for the District 5 seat, while Prouty defeated Genie Jennings for the District 3 seat, which was held by Ginger Bond.

The board met in executive session regarding various items, including consultation with the board’s attorney, discussion of matters involving real property, personnel matters, and other issues.

The board voted to name Susan Wilson as the director of the district's Head Start Program.

The board voted to approve the hiring of four coaches for the 2011-2012 school year.  Chris Mason was named the new head boys basketball coach, Matt Cooper was named head coach of the varsity baseball team, Lance Dale was named defensive coordinator for the football team, and Chad Butler was named as offensive coordinator for the football team.
